Psy has reached out to DJ and producer Afrojack to be the man to tackle the Herculean task of remixing arguably the biggest song of 2012.
In an interview with Billboard Magazine, the DJ, who is from the Netherlands and is a household name in house music, admitted that “Gangnam Style” was his favorite song of last year because “it’s genius.” Afrojack, who has remixed songs by notable artists such as Michael Jackson, Snoop Dogg and Madonna, said that the remix of the song would be “way clubbier” and would make people want to dance on their invisible horses for eight minutes straight.
The official “Gangnam Style” remix, along with Afrojack’s debut album, will be released in the first week of April.
Along with the upcoming remix, Psy’s highly anticipated “Gangnam Style” follow-up single is also scheduled to be released sometime next month. The rapper prevously stated that he was determined not to be labeled a one-hit wonder.
