The Korea Foundation has begun its Global Culture Tour program this month with a series of events focusing on the relationship between Korea and Australia.
On July 28 it will host a lecture by Damien Spry, who is an assistant professor at Hanyang University, an honorary associate at the University of Sydney, Australia, and host of the tbs eFM segment “The World.”
Spry will give a lecture on modern Australia, focusing on Australian identity and culture through examples of cinema and popular music. The lecture will be followed a discussion and networking session.
Spry hopes “to call for a greater understanding of how much our two cultures have in common, even if we may not always know it.”
The lecture is the latest event hosted by the foundation in line with its mission to facilitate cultural exchange and promote relationships between foreign residents and the Korean people.
“Overall, the purpose of this program is to enhance Koreans’ understanding of world cultures,” says program officer Kim Su-jin. Kim hopes that the event will attract Koreans with an interest in learning about Australia. The lecture will be given in English with Korean interpretation.
Those interested in attending the event can sign up on the Korea Foundation website en.kf.or.kr in the KF Global Center section under “Lectures.”
